1. Who we are

PricePing is operated by Hani Al Anani, an individual based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. In this policy, “PricePing,” “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to that operator.

2. Information we collect

Account and sign-in

You can sign in with Apple, with Google, or with an email address and password. Accounts are handled by Supabase. We store your email address and a user id. When you use Apple or Google sign-in, we receive the basic account information the provider makes available for authentication: email address, your name and avatar where provided, and a provider identifier. If you use Apple’s private email relay, we receive the relay address instead of your personal email address.

Products and prices

We store the product URLs you add and what we read from them: product name, image, store, currency, the observed price, the price history over time, and your alert settings. Product URLs and prices are the core of the service, so we do see what you are tracking.

Purchases you tell us about

If you tell the app you bought something, you type in the price you paid. We store that amount, the first price we recorded for that product, the difference between the two, and the currency. We also copy the product name and the store’s domain onto that record so it still reads after you stop tracking the product. If the product’s currency differs from the currency your savings are totalled in, we store the exchange rate used for that day. Rates come from a public exchange-rate service, open.er-api.com, which our server asks once a day for a plain list of rates; that request contains nothing about you or your purchase. What you paid is what you tell us. We cannot check it against the store, and the store tells us nothing about your order.

Product analytics

We use PostHog to understand how PricePing is used. Typical events are the setup screens you view, which sign-in method you use, paywall and purchase steps, whether you allowed notifications, notifications opened, background price checks run, products added or failed to add, price drops detected, and use of the savings card. Events are recorded against your PricePing account id. The closest we ever come to identifying a product is the store’s domain, for example zara.com. Product links, product names, prices, email addresses, and push tokens are never sent to PostHog. We do not use advertising identifiers and we do not track you across other apps or websites. RevenueCat also forwards your subscription events (trial started, converted, or cancelled, renewals, and billing issues) to PostHog under the same account id. When you delete your account, we ask PostHog to erase your person record.

Subscription status

We store whether your account has an active subscription or trial, along with the purchase identifiers needed to restore access. Purchases are made through Apple’s App Store and processed for us by RevenueCat. We never see or store your payment-card details.

Notifications and device

If you allow notifications, the app sends us a push token and your device platform (for example, iOS) so we can deliver price-drop notifications and a weekly summary to that device. We also use the token to send silent notifications, which wake the app in the background to check prices and show you nothing. We use the token only for those purposes.

What stays on your device

Your sign-in session is stored in your device’s keychain, using the operating system’s secure storage. It stays on that device, is not backed up to us, and is cleared when you sign out or delete the app. Sessions saved by an older version of the app are moved into the keychain once, the first time you open the new version. Your appearance preference (system, light, or dark) and the app’s diagnostic logs are also kept on the device only, and we do not collect them. When you sign in on the website, the equivalent session is held by your browser.

Technical records

Our hosting and service providers generate ordinary technical records such as IP address, browser or device type, operating-system version, timestamps, error information, and security logs. We use these to operate, secure, and troubleshoot PricePing.

3. How we use information

• To create and secure your account and authenticate you.
• To read, compare, store, and display prices for the products you track.
• To send price-drop notifications, weekly summaries, and service messages you ask for.
• To process subscriptions, restore purchases, and enforce plan limits.
• To record the purchases you tell us about and total what you saved.
• To measure how features are used, so we can see what works and what to fix.
• To provide support, diagnose errors, prevent abuse, and improve reliability.
• To comply with legal obligations and respond to lawful requests.

4. How price checks work

Prices are read from the store’s own public product page in two ways: by your phone, in the background, and by our servers. On your phone the app loads the page in a hidden view and reads the price out of it, so the store sees an ordinary request from your device and network, the same as if you had opened the page yourself. When our own server request is blocked or cannot find a price, we may fetch the page through Zyte or Firecrawl, which read the public page on our behalf. Amazon pages carry no machine-readable price, so we read the values Amazon puts in its own add-to-cart form, and some of those pages can only be read from your device, in the marketplace your device can buy from. Either way, what we keep is the product page details and the observed price, not your browsing history and not anything about a purchase you make at the store.

5. Sign-in with Apple and Google

PricePing uses Apple and Google only as sign-in providers. We use the basic identity information needed to create or access your PricePing account. We do not request access to Gmail, Google Drive, Google Contacts, iCloud, or any other service from those accounts. Apple may provide a private relay email address when you choose to hide your email.

6. When we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only as needed to run PricePing, with:

• Supabase: account authentication and application data storage.
• Apple and RevenueCat: subscription purchases and entitlement checks.
• PostHog: product analytics, as described above, keyed by your account id. No product URLs and no product names.
• Expo: push-notification delivery and over-the-air app updates.
• Render: hosting for the website and the API.
• Cloudflare: delivering and protecting the website.
• Zyte and Firecrawl: fetching store product pages when our own request is blocked or cannot find a price.
• Inngest: scheduling and running the background price checks.
• Resend: sending price-drop emails, and reporting bounces and spam complaints back to us.
• open.er-api.com: daily currency exchange rates. We send it no personal information.
• Authorities and professional advisers: when required by law, to protect rights and safety, or to address fraud or abuse.

These providers may process information in countries outside the United Arab Emirates. We limit each provider’s access to what its function requires.

7. Google user data

Information received from Google is used only to authenticate your PricePing account and provide the service you request: your name, email address, and avatar, when Google provides them. We do not use Google user data for advertising, sell it, or transfer it to third parties except as necessary to provide PricePing, comply with law, or protect the service. Our use of Google user data follows Google’s applicable API Services User Data Policy and Limited Use requirements.

8. Retention and deletion

We keep information for as long as it is needed to provide PricePing, maintain security, resolve disputes, comply with legal obligations, and keep appropriate business records.

When a paid subscription expires, PricePing pauses price checks immediately. We hold the account's tracked products, their price history, and product alerts for 30 days so they can be restored if the subscription is renewed. After that deadline, we permanently delete those products, price history, and alerts. The PricePing account and saved purchases and savings remain.

You can delete your account from the Account tab in the app. Deletion takes effect immediately and removes your account, your tracked products, their price history, your alerts, your notification tokens, your saved purchases and savings, your subscription record, and our log of any email bounces for your address, subject to anything we must retain for legal, security, or fraud-prevention reasons. We also ask PostHog to erase your person record; the underlying analytics events stay, attached to an account id that no longer belongs to anyone. Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription; cancel that in your iOS subscription settings. Apple and RevenueCat keep their own records of purchases for as long as Apple’s rules require, and we cannot delete those on your behalf.

9. Your choices and rights

You can update account information, remove tracked products, turn off notifications, cancel your subscription in your iOS settings, and delete your account. Depending on where you live, you may also have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, or a copy of your personal information. Contact us at [email protected] and include enough information for us to identify your request.

10. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect information, including access rules that scope every record to the account that owns it. No online service can guarantee absolute security, so please use a unique password and contact us promptly if you believe your account has been compromised.

11. Children

PricePing is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided information to us, contact us so we can review and remove it where appropriate.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as PricePing changes. We will update the “Last updated” date when we do. If a change is material, we will provide additional notice where appropriate.
