Disclosure: PricePing makes this page. We have tried to be fair to camelcamelcamel, which is the better choice for many Amazon shoppers. Facts about camelcamelcamel come from its own website (see Sources); check them before you choose.
The short answer
Use camelcamelcamel if you mostly buy on Amazon, want to see an Amazon product’s past prices, and are happy with email alerts and a website. It is free. Use PricePing if what you want to buy is spread across many stores (fashion, sportswear, Shopify brands, regional stores like Noon and Namshi) and you want one list and one kind of alert for all of it on your iPhone.

Who camelcamelcamel is for
camelcamelcamel is a free Amazon price tracker built around two things: price history charts and email alerts. Every product page charts the Amazon price, the third-party new price and the third-party used price over time, with the high, low and average. You set a “price watch” at the price you want, and it emails you when the price gets there. You don’t even need an account to start, and if you sign up you can import a public Amazon wishlist in one go. Its browser extension, The Camelizer, puts the same charts on Amazon pages in a desktop browser.
Who PricePing is for
PricePing is for people whose wishlist isn’t only on Amazon. You share a product link to the app from Safari or any shopping app (or paste it), and PricePing reads the price from the store’s own page, in the store’s own currency. It has read prices from Amazon, Nike, Zara, Uniqlo, Lululemon, Allbirds, Gymshark, Noon, Namshi and Shopify shops. You choose an alert for each product: any drop, a drop below your target price, or a percentage drop. Every product is checked at least once a day, and its price history builds from the day you add it.
When to use camelcamelcamel
- Almost everything you buy is on Amazon.
- You want to know whether today’s Amazon price is really low by looking at its past prices.
- You want a free tool and email alerts are enough.
- You keep an Amazon wishlist and want to watch all of it at once.
When to use PricePing
- You want to track products from many stores, including ones camelcamelcamel does not cover.
- You find things in shopping apps and browsers on your phone and want to track them with one share.
- You want alerts for a target price or a percentage drop, per product.
- You shop in more than one currency or country.
PricePing’s limits, honestly
- It is a subscription with no free tier. Monthly plans start with a 7-day free trial; yearly plans don’t have one.
- It is iPhone only for now. Android is in testing.
- Price history starts when you add a product. It can’t show what the price was last year.
- Prices are checked at least once a day, not every second, so alerts are not instant.
Questions
Is camelcamelcamel better than PricePing?
For Amazon on a budget, often yes: camelcamelcamel is free and shows Amazon price history from before you started watching, which PricePing does not have. PricePing is the better fit when the things you want to buy are spread across many stores, or when you want to track them from your iPhone, because camelcamelcamel only covers Amazon and has no iPhone app.
Does camelcamelcamel work with stores other than Amazon?
No. camelcamelcamel tracks Amazon in 8 countries: the US, the UK, Canada, Australia, France, Germany, Italy and Spain. Its makers run a separate site, camelmart.com, for Walmart US prices.
Is there a camelcamelcamel app for iPhone?
We did not find an official camelcamelcamel app in the US App Store, and its own page says its browser extension, The Camelizer, does not support mobile browsers. On an iPhone you use its website.
Does PricePing work with Amazon?
Yes. Amazon is one of the stores PricePing has read prices from. Share or paste the Amazon product link like any other, and it is checked at least once a day.
Can I use camelcamelcamel and PricePing together?
Yes. A common setup is camelcamelcamel to check an Amazon product's past prices before you buy, and PricePing to watch everything you want from other stores, all in one list on your iPhone.
