Disclosure: PricePing makes this page. PayPal Honey is free and does things PricePing doesn’t, and we say where. Facts about Honey come from its help center, its App Store listing and its website, checked on October 20, 2026 (see Sources).
The short answer
Droplist is Honey’s free price tracker: you add an item from the Honey extension, and Honey emails you when the price drops below the amount you chose. People look for an alternative because it isn’t available on every site, it watches an item for a set number of days, and on iPhone it is only in the Honey app for US members, not in its Safari extension. PricePing, the iPhone price tracker app, does only price tracking: share a product link from almost any online store, pick an alert, and get a push notification when a check finds a drop. Keep Honey if you want coupon codes and rewards at checkout, or a free tool.
What Droplist does well
- It is free, and there is no limit to the number of items you can add.
- It emails you when the price drops below the amount you chose, and the Honey app can send a push notification if you enable alerts.
- It lets you tag items, and reminds you before an item’s watch period runs out.
- It comes with the rest of Honey: coupon codes tested at checkout on 30,000+ sites, PayPal Rewards at eligible stores, and Amazon seller comparisons.
Why Droplist may not work for you
- Not every store. Honey’s help center says Droplist isn’t available on every site; if the product page has no Droplist option in the Honey extension, it can’t be watched.
- Mostly a desktop tool. You add items from the desktop extension. Droplist isn’t in Honey’s mobile Safari extension, and in the Honey app it is for US members only.
- It runs out. In the app, you watch an item for 30, 60, 90 or 120 days. Something you are waiting on for a big sale can drop off before the sale comes.
- One kind of rule. Droplist alerts when the price drops below the amount you choose. It doesn’t count shipping, tax or handling.

How PricePing works on iPhone
- Open the product in Safari or any store’s app.
- Tap Share and choose PricePing, or paste the link in the app. The product goes into your Watching list.
- Choose an alert: Any drop, Below a price, or a % drop.
- Get a ping when a check finds a drop that matches, and see the product’s price history from the day you added it.
The full walkthrough is in how to get notified when a price drops. For a wider comparison of the two apps, see PricePing vs PayPal Honey.
PricePing’s limits, honestly
- It is a subscription with no free tier. Monthly plans start with a 7-day free trial; yearly plans don’t have one.
- It is iPhone only for now. Android is in testing.
- Price history starts when you add a product. It can’t show what the price was last year.
- Prices are checked at least once a day, not every second, so alerts are not instant.
Questions
Why is Honey Droplist not working?
The usual reasons, from Honey's own help center: Droplist is not available on every site, so the product page may not offer it; it isn't in Honey's mobile Safari extension; in the Honey app it is only available to US members; and an item stops being watched when the 30, 60, 90 or 120 days you picked run out. Honey also doesn't count shipping, tax or handling in a price drop.
What is a good Honey Droplist alternative for iPhone?
PricePing, the iPhone price tracker app, is built for this one job: share a product link from almost any online store, pick an alert (any drop, below a price, or a percentage drop), and get a push notification when a check finds a matching drop. It has no watch period that runs out while your plan is active. It is a paid subscription, while Honey is free.
Does Honey Droplist work on iPhone?
Partly. Honey's help center says Droplist is in the Honey app for US members, with push notifications if you enable alerts, and that items you add with the desktop extension sync to the app. It also says Droplist isn't available in Honey's mobile Safari extension.
Is Honey free?
Yes. PayPal Honey is free to use. Its App Store listing says merchants may pay Honey affiliate commissions, which it shares with users as rewards.
Can I use Honey and PricePing together?
Yes. They do different jobs. PricePing watches prices and tells you when they drop; Honey looks for coupon codes and rewards when you check out. Many people would use PricePing to know when to buy and Honey at checkout.
